Frequently Asked Questions
If you need additional information about my lessons and methodology these questions and answers will help you understand more.
1Do you work for a language institute?
No, I am self-employed and offer German lessons for all learning levels worldwide via online meeting platforms.
2How does the lesson work?
I teach exclusively online. We can use various online meeting platforms such as Teams, Zoom, FaceTime, or Google Meet.
During the meeting, we work on the learning material I have chosen for you (for example, a book). We complete the exercises together, and if needed, I supplement the lessons with additional information or materials.
I am entitled to change the time of the announced course, provided that the participant is notified of the change in good time and that it is reasonable for them.
3Do I have to do homework?
Homework complements the lessons and helps reinforce what you have learned at home. The amount of homework is agreed upon individually. At the beginning of the lesson, we go through the exercises together so I can see what you have already understood well and where you may need more support.
4Do you also offer conversation lessons?
Yes, I am happy to hold conversation sessions with you to improve your speaking skills. We will cover a variety of topics from everyday life, your profession, or your personal interests.
5Is online learning as effective as in-person learning?
I have many years of experience teaching online. The quality is equal to that of in-person lessons. However, some people find it difficult to focus in an online setting — in such cases, online lessons may not be suitable.
6How long are the lessons?
Each lesson lasts 50 minutes. There is also the option of booking 90-minute lessons.
7What are your teaching hours?
In the mornings, between 8:00 and 13:00, I teach companies and organizations. From 15:00 to 21:00, I teach private individuals and students.
8Can I have lessons on weekends?
In exceptional cases, weekend lessons are possible.
9How does payment work?
At the end of each month, you will receive an invoice by email.
The invoice must be paid within 7 days.
If payment is not received within this time-period, lessons will be temporarily suspended. Continued non-payment will result in the initiation of a formal collection process.
10In which language is the invoice issued?
The invoice can be issued in both German and English.
11Can I cancel the lessons at any time?
The lessons are billed monthly and can be terminated by the customer at any time with 14 days' notice.
The provider, i.e. myself, is also entitled to withdraw from the course if there is an important reason for breach of contract on the part of the participant.
If the participant has not paid the invoice 7 days after it has been delivered, they are in default. In this case, the lessons may be interrupted or cancelled by the provider until the invoice has been paid.
12How many lessons will I need?
The number of lessons depends on your goals. If you wish to learn quickly, we can schedule several sessions per week.
13Can more than one person join a course?
Yes, group lessons are possible if there are several participants at the same level.
14How do I find my learning level?
We will schedule an initial meeting in which I will conduct a conversation and a short test. Afterwards, I will tell you your level. The learning levels are:
A1.1 – A1.2 – A2.1 – A2.2 – B1.1 – B1.2 – C1.1 – C1.2 – C2.1 – C2.2
15Do you offer exam preparation?
Yes, I am happy to help you prepare for an exam. Please contact me well in advance so we have enough time for preparation.
16Where can I take an exam?
Many language institutes regularly offer exams for levels A1, A2, B1, and B2. You can find this information online. Contact the institute of your choice and register directly.
17How long does exam preparation take?
If you already have sufficient prior knowledge, plan for about 6 months of preparation.
18My child has poor grades in German. Do you offer tutoring?
Yes, I can help your child improve in German.
• If your child already has good German skills: 1–2 lessons per week are usually enough to support grammar, spelling, and text writing alongside schoolwork.
• If your child has limited German skills: More lessons will be needed to cover both basic language learning and school-related tutoring.
19I already own textbooks for my level. Do I need to buy new ones?
In our first meeting, we will check whether your books are suitable for your learning goals and level. If not, you will need to purchase new materials.
20Cancellations
Cancellations must be made in writing via email at least 24 hours before the scheduled lesson.
For late cancellations (less than 24 hours in advance) or missed lessons, the full fee will be charged.
Thank you for your understanding, as short-notice cancellations often cannot be rebooked.
21Under what circumstances can a course be cancelled?
I am entitled to cancel the course for technical or personal reasons. In doing so, the interests of the participants will be taken into account as far as possible. In the event of urgent disruptions, I am also entitled to rectify faults during normal business hours.
If I am unable to provide the service due to force majeure, the provider's obligation to provide the service shall be suspended for as long as the obstacle to performance persists.
If the obstacle to performance lasts for more than one week, the customer has the right to terminate the cooperation if the obstacle means that the customer is no longer interested in fulfilling the contract.
If the participant is excluded from the cooperation by the provider, he/she is obliged to compensate the provider for the damage incurred as a result. In particular, the participant is not entitled to a full or partial refund of the fees paid by him/her.
22How are course places allocated?
Course places are allocated in the order of registration. If a course place is temporarily unavailable, you have the option of being placed on a waiting list.
23Can I cancel my course participation?
The participant has the right to cancel within fourteen days without giving reasons. The cancellation period is fourteen days from the date of enrolment. I must be informed of this decision by email. This email must include your name, address, email-address and telephone number.
24Can I share course content with people who are not enrolled in the course?
All of the provider's documents are protected by copyright. This also applies to content on the website, presentations, scripts and other documents. Participants are not permitted to reproduce, distribute or publicly reproduce such documents. This also includes images, film and/or sound recordings of the event.
25Is my personal data subject to data protection?
The following data is collected when participating in a course: name, address, email address, telephone number and performance data. This data is necessary for the conclusion and fulfilment of the contract and is based on Art. 6 (1) (b) GDPR.
This data is required for processing and invoicing and is not passed on to third parties. The data is deleted immediately after the course has ended.
